Vantage Point

Vantage Point is coming out on DVD. I saw this in the movies and really enjoyed it. The audience learns the story behind an event that happens (don't want to give anything away) from different people's point of view through flashbacks. This makes for some great plot twists and turns. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it.

I want to see it- I want to see it bad! It looked really good but I didn't get to the theater. I love Mathew Fox-- so I bet it will be great- thanks for the heads up that it is coming out soon!

I have seen VANTAGE POINT a couple of times on DVD and found it a clever, thoughtful thriller. As with THE USUAL SUSPECTS, it actually improves with repeat viewings, as we now know what to look for in piecing together all the clues. I also liked the way how it portrayed all the individual stories imparitally whether they involved Presidential aides, bystanders or terrorists as it could easily have fallen into the obvious trap of characterising people as merely "good" or "evil" without allowing the audience to make up its own mind. Every character seemed three-dimensional and this can be difficult to achieve on screen. While Blockbusters are fine, it is nice to see films such as this which require a little thought in untangling the multi-layered plots and also provide an enjoyable viewing experience at the same time!
