Most of my friends are split on this too - love him or hate him

I think he's a unique actor with amazing talent. Only a few movies/directors have been able to tap this talent, notably Milos Forman for Man on the Moon, and Tom Shadyac for Ace Ventura, of course. These are his best roles in my opinion

Carrey has made very little that wasnt successful and has played the lead in most of his films, including some quite varied roles, although his acting style usually stays the same. One day, I think its even possible that he may get an Oscar nod, certainly in the right role. He was amazing as Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon, Oscar-worthy performance. Forman seems able to do this with his male leads - check big Jack in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Tom Hulce in Amadeus, and Woody Harrelson in The People Vs Larry Flynt

I happen to love him. I would agree that most of his movies are the most funny movies I have seen in a long while.

He is one of the best comical actors these days. Every movie he is in wrecks laughter on me:)

I hate him! I actually had this question at my bridal shower for one of the games.It was a question about name the actor I can't stand and I gave 3 choices.He was the one. He can act somewhat.But, his movies arent impressive.I can't deal with grown men acting like children or nut jobs constantly in movies.If he'd throw a real serious movie in there or something beyond a commical movie I think I'd be more impressed.He doesn't show enough range of character for me.

Im really torn with this one he is definatly like marmite you either really love him or really hate him some of his films are great and others are not at all funny.

I like him early on. Carey was really good in The Mask. His later stuff, though, has been bad. I didn't think he was a good pick for The Grinch.

I love his comic style. He reminds me of the old Jerry Lewis Films. I like the stupid funny that they both do. Hes great!

For me, it depends on the movie. I never really cared for The Mask or Ace Ventura and those were really big movies for him. I did like him in Dumb and Dumber and The Truman Show. I also thought he did well as Horton in Horton Hears A Who. I also like to see him in interviews because he's so funny. I can imagine it must be exhausting for the interviewer though.lol. Kind of like Robin Williams. Soooo much energy!

I loved each of these movies- I like all of the above more than the mask.

The only movie that I could stand Jim Carrey in was Bruce Almighty. Other than that I can't stand him. He is a comical actor but he is just too goofy.
