Have you ever walked out?

Postby Robin on Thu Jul 03, 2008 10:03 am

I've sat through some pretty bad movies at the cinema in my time, most notably Saw 2 and The Santa Clause, but I've never walked out

Maybe through the need to see the film to the end, to get my moneys worth. But, inspired by willyable's post about the first Hellboy movie, I would love to hear your examples of when you felt a film sucked so bad you actually had to leave the theatre

Come on guys name and shame!

Yeah, I wanted to walk out of Drop Dead Fred with one face Rik Mayall but you and Lucy made me stay and watch it all.

No, I have never walked out. We contemplated walking out of "Out of Africa" but stayed for the entire boring show.

We walked out of Spider-Man 3 because of the pre-teens making comments and kicking our chairs and the families who seemed to have thought they had shown up at the state fair instead of a movie. Nobody was even bothering to keep their voices down! We got tickets for a rain-check from the theater, but never used them.

I was always about 2 seconds from walking out of the car crash that was "Van Hellsing". I kept telling myself, no movie could be that bad and a great bit must be around the corner.... by the time cloud people were kissing and hugging each other I had regretted not scratching my own eyes out.
Honestly, I paid for my brother to come to watch it in the cinema with me. I actually apologised to him as we left the cinema.

LOL @ Murphy

I fell asleep during Vanilla sky - I guess this must count as half a walkout at least!

I wish I had walked out of sixty six (had a very strange combination of the world cup in '66 and the barmitzvah of a 12 year old kid). That film really was dire...

I almost had to walk out of Cloverfield - I really enjoyed the film, but the blair witch style video footage almost made me projectile vomit over those in front of me.

I have never walked out but I too have fallen asleep multiple times. I have fallen asleep with a movie I chose to go see though, only ones I was dragged to.

I agree, Paul, the camera style in Cloverfield really ruined.

No, I've never walked out. I try to get my money's worth, good or bad.

LOL about VanHelsing! We actually own that movie, and my 10-year-old LOVES it. She could watch it every day. I just go to my happy place whenever she puts it in... And silly me, the first time I saw it, I kept looking for Hugh Jackman's character to bear any relation AT ALL to Stoker's character...did not happen. The cast was amazing, but something went wrong with the writing. I mean, the dialogue was just so hideous. And Paul, I know you love Kate Beckinsale, but exactly what accent was she attempting?

I fell asleep during that one with Will Ferrell, where he's the soccer dad? I can't think of the name. But we were at a drive in at a double feature, and it was the second one. It just couldn't keep my interest.
